Spot the Difference if you Can #10
These two German stamps from July 1948 look very similar and are overprints of the 1946 issue of the same design. There are many stamps in this series that have minor variations, like the ones shown here. These are both Sc# 593E. But the bottom stamps is a highly collectible variety, often overlooked as it is only footnoted in Scott catalogs.
The difference lies in the overprint. The bottom stamp has the overprint inverted, which is easy to miss, especially if you only have the one stamp to look at.
These stamps hard to find, and many collectors and dealers do not always recognize them as different stamps. Look carefully and you can find these varieties. The varieties are significantly more valuable than the regular stamps
